The miracle and grace of a yoga practice is that the body and breath are used as a sacred gateway back into contact with our timeless, formless, and boundless essence nature. In yoga, the inner voice finally is silent long enough for us to feel the loving stillness that has always waited within us. Rather than burden ourselves with an external idea of perfection, and the self-criticism that comes with it, we learn to move through our practice with sensitivity, led by our inner guidance. As we adopt this attitude on our yoga mat, in our asanas (postures), it can’t help but begin to express itself in other aspects of our lives. As the physical body stretches and strengthens, so does the subtle and emotional body. We let go of old wounds and protective mechanisms, in favor of more authentic and vulnerable living. Over time we may find ourselves feeling calmer, more relaxed, and more joyful. We may feel our hearts start to open, as we feel more empathy for others and ourselves. We may feel more alive to the present moment, and more grateful for all the magic in our lives. Bit by bit, we spend more and more time free from “the trance of unworthiness”, and instead begin to live from our true home – Divine Everlasting Love.
That’s my yoga, and it starts with a single deep breath!
